Welcome to the Kodak House! The "Kodak House" is one of the most iconic houses built by Horace Gifford in 1965 during the "Go Go" days of Fire Island. It acquired its nickname "Kodak House" due to its resemblance to the Kodak Flashcube placed on the top of the Kodak Instamatic camera used in the 1960's. The house was designed in the shape of a Greek cross with four tall slender tower bases delicately tethered to its sand dune hovering like a "Spaceship" over its earthbound neighbors. At night the house transforms into a lighthouse with light streaming out of its wall-to-wall 14' high windows. The 1st floor consists of 3 bedrooms and 2 baths with wrap-around decks where each bedroom has its own deck area. The 2nd floor opens to a spacious living area containing 2 living room areas, a dining area, and a separated kitchen each claiming the four tower niches.The open areas command panoramic ocean views from its 14' windows. Enveloping the outside of the 2nd floor are wrap-around cantilevered decks to sit or dine beholding the gorgeousness of its ocean views.
